A Festival of Praise St Davids Cathedral Festival 2017

The John S Davies Singers appear at St Davids Cathedral Festival in a Festival of Praise at Tabernacle Chapel, St Davids on Monday, 29 May 2017.
Conductor – John S Davies, Organ – Meirion Wynn Jones.
Programme will include Te Deum Laudamus, Stanford. The Lord’s Prayer, William Mathias. Laudamus Te, Karl Jenkins.
Emynau Pantycelyn, Alun Hoddinott. The latter is a setting of five hymns by William Williams, Pantycelyn 1717 – 1791,
a prolific Welsh hymn writer of over six hundred hymns. 2017 is the three hundredth anniversary of his birth.
The words are set to music for baritone solo, choir and organ. Soloist, Steffan Jones.
Also Ty Ddewi, Welsh hymn tune arr. Richard Elfyn Jones. O Salutaris Hostia, Elgar. Psalm 8, David Harries. Ave Verum Corpus, Corelli.
The Lord is my Shepherd, John Rutter. Hallelujah Chorus, Handel.
There will also be an opportunity for audience participation in the singing of three well known hymns: Goss, Cwm Rhondda and Blaenwern.
